Are you in the middle of decorating? Are you catching up on home improvement projects? Maybe you’re not doing either but you’d simply like to do a few quick, simple things to make your home look and feel better.
Check it out:
Kitchen Knives
Are the wooden handles on your cutlery and the wooden blocks where your knives are stored looking worse for wear? First, stop putting wooden handled knives in the dishwasher and never leave them soaking in water. If the handles of your knives or your blocks appear dry and have lost their luster, clean them thoroughly to remove all kitchen grime and then wipe them down with oil soap. Let it soak in, and give it another coat if needed. Afterwards, apply furniture polish that contains wax to the blocks. This will help make clean up easier in the future and it will also help keep moisture in.
Got Tie Backs?
If your puppy ate one of the tie backs that goes to your favorite curtains, don’t fret. Neck-scarves, ribbon, lace, or a luxurious remnant of fabric can be used to replace it, or you can pull it back with a pretty string of beads.
Brighten Things Up
The fastest, easiest way to brighten up any space, is to add candles. Big ones, small ones, unique ones, and plain ones all work. They are a great, affordable way to add more color as well as more light.
Repair a Hole in the Wall
As long as it’s a little one, you can repair a hole in the wall quickly and easily. Apply some drywall compound it, let it dry, sand it, wipe it, and repeat. The last step is the most important, since the compound will shrink a bit as it dries. Adding more will fill the gap. When dry, sand, wipe, and paint to match the rest of the wall. It’s that easy. This method also works for scratches, dings, and dents in walls.
