Fast Food Fight: Resist the Urge

Weakness

Dragging my tired body out of work, I walk to my van. Thank goodness I do not live too far away because I am tired. It has been a long day, up at 4 a.m. It is 2:30 p.m. and I still have the rest of the day to complete. A day like any other I would go home, take a shower, visit with my son and start my second shift writing the night away. At least I can be home for the rest of the day and work at something that relaxed me. However, I am hungry. I have not eaten all day unless you can count the handful of Cheerios and cup of coffee that I grabbed while walking out the door this morning. And by the way, you do need to count those. I believed that I consumed about 100 calories so I was entitled to some more food. I could go home and cook something. Nah….I would either cook for my son and eat what he was eating or stop by the local fast food stop. My son was calling me asking me to stop there. Oh boy. Here goes the power struggle between fast food and me. I pull up to the window and it looked so good. I get my son his food and ponder on what I will eat. I was good, I choose the side salad, no dressing.

Where Do All of The Calories Come From? When I first started dieting I think that I was stronger. Cutting out the fast food allowed me to drop pounds in a reasonably fast period of time. By cutting out all fast food or choosing a plain salad on the menu was a major plus in my weight loss. I checked out the calorie content the other day for one of their breakfast sandwiches. I could not believe it was almost 600 calories. For the same thing at home with me making it, it was only half of that. What did they do to it to make it so many more calories? It is all too easy to pull up to that window after a long day and order something.

Be Strong!

With our hustle and bustle lives our day does not stop after working all day. There are still so many things to face until nighttime. Time is a huge factor in our lives because we try to fit so much into one 24-hour period. We need to prioritize a little better and try to cut back on our evening activities. We need to give ourselves time to unwind in order to decrease our stress. Fast food can literally cause you to gain mega pounds each year. Oh yes, it does taste so good, but it is not good for your body. It is loaded with fat and empty calories that will cause you to gain weight very fast. In order to lose weight try cutting out all fast foods or just choose the salad instead. You will see a difference in just a month of doing this. I believe this was a major factor in my weight loss journey and although I have slipped up a little lately, but I am going to get right back up on that horse and try again!
