Fat-Burning Foods – Six for Sundays

We all want that miracle food, that one that stokes our metabolic fire and gets it to burn hotter and more efficiently than ever before. We want that because when we eat these miraculous fat-burners, we want to burn more calories and fat in their consumption than they put back into our system.

While these six fat burning foods will help, it’s important to remember that your calories do count, your portions should still be controlled and you should avoid those deprivation diet rules and maintain a well-balanced diet and good exercise are still your best options!

So, here are the six for Sunday in the top fat-burning foods:

  • Broccoli – hmm, one of my favorites. I love it raw, I love it steamed, I love it covered in cheese. There are numerous studies that link weight loss and calcium. Broccoli is loaded with calcium and for people who don’t particularly care for citrus – it’s loaded with vitamin C. It’s what we like to call a power vegetable. The vitamin C in the broccoli helps your body to absorb the calcium that it delivers as well. If that’s not enough to sell you on the broccoli – it’s also high in folate, vitamin A and fiber. It also has just 20-calories per cup. So not only does this power vegetable dominate in our Six for Sunday fat burning foods, it also provides you with immunity boosters. How much better does it get? Did I mention that I love broccoli?
  • Green Tea – Green is my husband’s favorite color and green tea continues to rank into the news reports because extracts are boosting metabolism and may help with weight loss. But the other great part of green tea is that it enhances your calm and your mood. While it may be too trendy, there are studies that indicate that green tea will help prevent heart disease and that it is also good to help prevent cancer. Not a bad product all the way around if you ask me.
  • Soup – Yes, soup. While soup is a way to make food and not necessarily a fat-burning food – soup is a great way to suppress the appetite because it has a lot of liquids and solids. There are studies that show women who had 270 calorie snacks before lunch consumed a lot less than a those who chicken and rice casserole. Soup is also really, really really good. If you like to make homemade soup, you can enjoy the liquid that is rich in proteins and vitamins. So consider having soup for lunch – it’s filling, satisfying and encouraging your fat-burning.
  • Oatmeal – Oatmeal is among the power foods in the Abs Diet and it’s fat-burning propertiies are high on the good carbohydrates list. It’s a great source of cholesterol-fighting and it wil fill you up, give you lots of energy and is loaded with vitamins. As a breakfast food it’s a phenomenol way to start the day and a good bowl of oatmeal is like your grandmother’s hug in her kitchen every single morning – as a comfort food – it’s a lot better than chocolate chip cookies
  • Lean Turkey – Here’s what I like about this particular fat-burning food – lean turkey can be prepared as many ways as you can prepare chicken and even many of the ways you can prepare meat. For example, ground turkey is a great way to make turkey burgers, you can add it to your pasta for spaghetti and reduce the levels of fat and calories in the meal – it’s also a great way to boost metabolism, build lean muscle and lose fat and unlike lots of other meat products there are no saturated fats
  • And last, but hardly least, what would a fat burning foods list be without water? Water can help speed up your weight loss. Drinking a glass of water before every meal can curb appetite, boost hydration and reduce the amount of water you retain. It’s also a great way to encourage digestion and can seriously speed up the metabolic rate. Water also flushes out excess sodium and toxins – talk about your miracle products. Even if you can only drink 4 ounces of water a time, go for it – frequent water breaks throughout the day will benefit you in the long run!
