Favorite Find: KleenSlate

Recently, I was introduced to a product that I think makes a wonderful addition to my homeschool. I am so excited to tell you all about KleenSlate. Not only is it great for homeschools it can be used for school, homeschool co-ops, family game night and more.

What is KleenSlate?

Created by a former teacher, Julia Rhodes, KleenSlate is one of the most useful products I have come across in a long time. The combination of fun, usefulness, and multi-uses is a winner. KleenSlate offers a variety of dry erase products including a handheld response paddle. The handheld response paddle is kid friendly, super fun to use, durable, and has a place in the paddle to keep the dry erase marker. The paddles come in a circular shape or rectangle. The paddles come in a variety of colors. You can purchase different packages and amounts depending on your needs and budget.

What can you do with KleenSlate?

I suggest you visit the website. Click on “Teacher’s Room” and you see many options for lesson plans and ideas using the KeelSlate handheld response paddle. The paddles have many educational applications. In a large group, students can use the paddle to answer questions. In a small group or at home, the students can use the paddles for copywork, math problems, or narration. My children never have trouble coming up for uses for the paddles. We use the paddles for games, art, school, and just for fun. If you are involved in a homeschool co-op or teach Sunday school the paddles will be helpful for communication. Taking children on field trips will be much easier if the chaperone holds up a paddle with simple directions, timeframes or reminders.

What do I use KleenSlate for?

My children love to use Kleen Slate to play Pictionary or any drawing game. My 6 year old uses it for copywork since one side of the paddle is lined for writing. My son uses it for graphing since some of the paddles have a grid on one side. The blank side is used for figuring out math problems or doodling if you are my three year old. Since the marker fits securely in the handle we can take them on the go.

The versatility and portability make this a must have product in any school or homeschool. You will find many uses for it from office needs to any situation to improve communication. The only way I could think to improve it would be to make it magnetic.
