In the Word of Wisdom we are counseled to take good care of our bodies. We are told specifically not to drink “hot drinks” (tea and coffee). We are also counseled to go to bed early and get up early (Doctrine and Covenants 88:124). It can be difficult to find the energy to do everything that you want to do. Here are five ways to increase your energy without taking supplements and caffeine. These suggestions will help to improve your overall health as well.
1) It is important to get enough sleep. This can be difficult when you are a parent, a student or a teenager. Going to bed at the same time every night, and rising at the same time every morning can help make your sleep more restful. Your body will respond well to this routine.
2) Eat small healthy meals throughout the day. One common reason for tiredness is that your blood sugar has dropped. This can cause you to be extremely moody. If you eat every three hours, your blood sugar level should stay steady.
3) Avoid sugary sweets and soda. These can up your energy level, but you will quickly crash lower than before. If you choose healthy foods that will stay with you, you will be able to maintain a higher energy level throughout the day.
4) Exercise is a wonderful way to increase your energy level. Exercise releases endorphins. There really is a runner’s high. If you exercise you should sleep better. It is important to start exercising slowly and build your way up.
5) Spend time each day meditating and giving thanks for the blessings in your life. It really helps your mood and over all energy level when you are focusing on the good things in your life. Laughing every day can also help you to feel better.
