Finding the Best Outlet Stores

Outlet stores can be a mixed bags. Some outlet stores offer goods at pretty much the same prices as the retail stores, while others offer amazing bargains. Here is how to find more outlet stores, including the best of the best.

In order to identify the best outlets, you’ll need to know what to look for. You should be familiar with what is currently in style (or what your personal preferences happened to be), and you’ll need to know what things cost normally. Getting what you think is a great deal at an outlet only to find the same item marked lower at the regular retail store can be pretty depressing.

One great way to find the best outlet stores is through word of mouth. Ask around to see where other people shop. If you keep hearing the same name over and over again, then that particular outlet might be a great place to find. Go ahead and check it out. Realize that there might be particularly great stores in one part of an outlet complex and only so-so stores in another.

Assume that practically every store has an outlet version some where. Ask employees of the store, contact the corporate headquarters and check out the store’s web site. You’ll often get information about outlet stores and even special sales. By asking at one particular higher end store, I was invited to a special sale that was held off site at a warehouse. The items were marked down up to 90 percent off! We really cleaned up that day with that sale.

Ask at the outlets themselves if there are other outlets. I was able to find a “last chance” store where the outlet store delivered goods. I picked up several summer dresses for my daughter that way for just a few dollars, and the best thing is that it was still July!
