Jessie started school today. She was supposed to start on January 4, after winter break. Unfortunately, she that night in the hospital and it was just not possible. I was planning on sending her next Monday, but decided on today instead. I figure starting on a Friday gives her a day to experience school and the weekend to process it.
I got up really early to get myself dressed and ready for the day. Daddy got up early too so he could shower. I woke up Jessie at 7:00. Jessie helped pick out her outfit for the day. She was unhappy about putting on a Pull-Up instead of a diaper, but the school wants Pull-Ups, so Pull-Ups it is. I put her hair in pigtails with blue curly-q elastics.
We got to the school around 7:40. We had plenty of time to stand in the hallway with the teacher and acclimate. We learned that the children who are there early go to the cafeteria for breakfast. Then the children all go to their classes. I hadn’t signed Jessie up for breakfast so I need to do that or get her there later.
Jessie clung to Daddy and me. Jessie fake cried and real cried. She didn’t want us to leave even though I’d been talking about what would happen for days. When it was time to go into the cafeteria, she didn’t fuss and looked like she was having fun.
I got back to the school around 11:00. I misunderstood the pickup time and will be there at 10:45 in the future. I retrieved her from the office and got my slip that I need to hold up in my car to pick her up.
She had a good time and did fine. I wish she had the communication skills to tell me what she did all day.
