First Fourth of July

It is rather exciting watching my daughter as she experience things for the first time. There always seems to be something new for her to experience and as her first year of life progresses, she is having a good time exploring and experiencing numerous things for the first time.

This past week she experienced her first fourth of July. The day began later than normal because we were all exhausted from all the late nights that we had recently experienced. I made celebratory buttermilk pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup. While our daughter is very anxious to eat solids, she did not partake our breakfast of blueberry buttermilk pancakes. Instead, she had a double serving of wonderfully fresh and nutritious breast milk (she was pleased). She and her brother spent a couple of hours with daddy before he had to leave for a long and late shift (he does not get holidays off and yes I am extremely bitter about that). Daddy would not be watching fireworks with our daughter for the first time. After daddy left for work, I dressed our daughter in her fourth of July outfit; a red, white, and blue dress gifted to her by one of her aunts. Since the fourth of July landed on a Wednesday this year, we made a quick stop at the grocery store to buy our weekly groceries, before we (baby, mommy, and big brother) headed over to my parents house to barbeque with family. My mom was preparing some barbeque chicken for the grill (she makes her barbeque sauce with amazingly clean and green ingredients). I brought some of my favorite chemical free pork hot dogs that I bought from a local clean, green farmer (I buy all my meat from him). While my daughter, again, cannot partake of the tasty food first hand (although the flavors do come through the breastmilk), she was able to enjoy the wonderful smells…
