Nintendo Wii is now being endorsed by the American Heart Association. Who would have ever thought that video game systems could go to this level? For some time I have been hearing about how great Wii Fit is. We own a Wii system and have a few games but I wasn’t ready to invest in something that I didn’t feel very sure about.
A few days ago I ordered Wii Fit Plus and not only am I excited about it but so are my kids. What finally sold me is watching a good friend of mine lose weight by changing her eating habits and working out with Wii Fit. I remember when she first bought the game and she would tell me how much fun it was and that it was a real workout. I wasn’t convinced.
However, now that I have seen her shrink before my very eyes, I am now convinced and so I placed my order for Wii Fit Plus. I cannot wait until it gets here.
Meanwhile, I read about the American Heart Association endorsing two of Wii’s games: Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus. This is truly cutting edge fitness. What I especially appreciate about this is that my children are excited about it. They were able to play it at my friend’s house, the one who lost the weight, and they said it is so much fun. Why can’t fitness be fun?
Nintendo is not the only brand to incorporate fitness into video gaming. Electronic Arts offers EA Sports Active, along with other games from “The Biggest Loser” and one called “Just Dance.”
Let’s face it. Times are changing and our world is going in a new direction. Why not go with the flow and enjoy the creativity of fitness and video games? This could possibly be the answer we are looking for as the United States tries to deal with the staggering statistics of obesity.
