Fitness Review – Dance Fitness for Beginners: Daily Quickies: 10 Minute Workouts

Earlier today, I gave you my review of Leslie Sansone’s Walk Away the Pounds: Power Mile DVD and now we’re going to take a look at Dance Fitness for Beginners: Daily Quickies: 10 Minute Workouts. The style of DVD is very different from the previous one as it utilizes different instructors to lead you through different styles of workouts.

10 Minute Quickies

MaDonna Grimes offers the best aerobic workout on this DVD. Her aerobics get your heart up and racing. This is also not a beginner’s workout. The cardio stimulation is easy to follow and gives you a heart-pounding workout in 10 minutes.

The belly dancing segments, 3 in all, were a disappointment. I might have found them more interesting if I hadn’t taken a belly dancing class about 18 months ago. The instructor didn’t provide enough information to keep you engaged in the workout and I didn’t find that it delivered on the program of a 10-minute quickie.

The Rainbeau yoga portion was the only other segment that I found to be worthwhile. If you did the 10-minute aerobic workout with MaDonna and followed up with a session of Rainbeau’s yoga, you got the best of both worlds. You got a great cardio workout followed by a session of stretching and flexibility.

Rating the 10-Minute Dance Sessions

MaDonna’s 10-minute cardio workouts are worth 4 sneakers each and Rainbeau’s yoga session earns a deserved 4 sneakers. Unfortunately, the 3 belly dancing segments that comprise the other half of the DVD are worth about a sneaker and a half. That drops the overall rating for this DVD to just 2 and half sneakers.

I’d recommend it for rental to check out the cardio workouts and if you can find MaDonna Grimes’ cardio stimulation or cardio dance workout DVD on her own – I’d highly recommend that. As it is, I’m going to see if I can find a standalone workout DVD from her. I enjoyed her workout immensely and I was out of breath and sweating profusely when I was done. I also didn’t feel like I’d wasted my time because those 10 minutes set me up for the rest of the day.
