Fitness Tips: How Do You Feel About You?

One thing I’ve discovered over the last few years is how you view yourself is indelibly linked to how successful you are in the challenges you choose to undertake. So let’s talk a little bit about how you feel about yourself, because from the get go – if you hate yourself and you feel extremely negative about yourself – then you will not likely find the success you are craving.

There are a number of things that I do when I am feeling down about myself or unhappy with how things are going with my fitness program and more. You can do some or all of these exercises as needed and it may be what works for me may not work for you – but give it a shot, it may surprise you.

Lists, Lists and More Lists

I love lists, but the reason I love lists is they offer a feeling of success and completion each and every time you cross something off the list. Lists are also a great way of itemizing out what you are thinking, feeling or seeing as troubled areas. They can help you define the problem rather than mucking about, worriedly, looking for some kind of reference point.

So let’s start with these kinds of lists:

  • List 50 things that you like about yourself
  • List 50 things you don’t like about yourself
  • List 50 things you’d like to improve about yourself

You may discover as you write these lists that many of the same items appear on the three different lists. That’s normal and don’t worry about it. One item you might see on all three lists might be, I like that I am very creative, but I don’t like that my creativity has me developing multiple projects at once and I’d like to focus my creativity in order to finish my projects in a more orderly fashion.

Once you’ve developed these lists, you now have a game plan to seek improvement for yourself and that’s what makes them so useful. Have you ever created a list like this for yourself before?
