Fitness Trends Predicted for 2012

There are already predictions out for what the top 20 fitness trends for 2012 will be. This is according to a survey conducted by the “American College of Sports Medicine.”

One of the fitness programs that is said will make this list is (no surprise) Zumba, something I recently blogged about, as it is coming out on Kinect for Xbox 360 in February, 2012.

Not only Zumba but other dance workouts will likely be a fitness trend for 2012. The dance wave is hitting fitness centers, classes and video game systems worldwide.

Another trend that is predicted is the increase in jobs for fitness professionals. I actually find this hard to believe. It has almost become unnecessary; what with all of the technology we have out there. We can now have a virtual trainer for virtually no cost. But I didn’t participate in the survey, so I may very well be wrong.

Fitness programs designed for older adults and children is also predicted to be a trend, which is probably a very good idea. So much focus gets put on those of us who are in between but with obesity in children increasing and the older adults suffering serious health problems, I can see the need for these specialized programs.

I have to admit, that fitness has definitely become more fun. A decade ago we were limited in what we can do. But now we have a variety of ways to incorporate fitness into our life.

It will be interesting to see what comes of 2012. What fitness trends do you think will be the most popular and are there any new fitness programs you plan on starting?

As for me, I just might have to give Zumba a chance. I recently blogged that I don’t like joining classes but the more I hear people talking about it, the more interested I am.
