Low cost decorating does not have to look cheap. You can create beautiful, comfortable rooms in your home without spending tons of money. You can also update your spaces without spending a bundle.
Try some of these low cost ideas:
1) Create a focal wall. You will only need enough paint or other treatment to cover one wall. You can find remnants of wallpaper, inexpensive fabric, or pick up a quart of paint on sale for about ten bucks and instantly liven up your space.
2) Update your paint color. Pick up some “oops” paint. When a home improvement store or other outlet mixes the wrong shade, it’s called oops paint and is usually sold for a fraction of the cost of a regular gallon. Sometimes, you can even pick up several gallons in the same “wrong” color. While it’s the wrong color for someone, it may be perfect for you. Another option is to paint your furniture instead of the walls. Painting the furniture will change the feel of the space.
3) Another way to update your paint color is by applying a paint treatment. Sponging on a new color over your existing wall color freshens things up instantly, and sponging doesn’t require nearly as much paint as completely covering the wall. You can also get away with thinning paint to make it go further when applying some treatments.
4) Inject some color with fabric treatments. Look for fabric on sale, and try to find options that are 60” wide instead of 45” wide. Make a simple throw and some accent pillows in deep red, pumpkin, or any rich color to add some spice to that beige sofa or bedspread. Make a table runner or frame some pretty fabric to use as artwork.
5) Change out your accessories. Trade some accessories for those from other rooms in your home. Add some new candles, and pick up some attractive glass pieces.
