Five Gifts for Your Mother

Every year when I was a little girl I would write an elaborate play and force my brothers and sisters to participate in it. Somehow I managed to work in the gifts that we were giving my mom for Mother’s Day, so that throughout the play she would receive several gifts. We performed the play while she ate her breakfast in bed.

Mother’s Day is on Sunday. Mothers work hard, and sacrifice a lot for their children. They deserve a day of thanks for their sacrifices. Here are some ways to honor your mom. Husbands, you need to help your children honor their moms as well.

1) The Work and The Glory: A House Divided is now available. This is the third and final movie in the series. You can dress this gift up by making a gift basic that includes popcorn and other treats. You may also want to include one of The Work and the Glory books as well.

2) Another great gift is to give your mom a chance to pamper yourself. You can do this by purchasing a gift certificate for a massage or manicure or day at the spa. You can dress this up by making a basket that includes some of your mom’s favorite lotions, and bubble bath.

3) Another great gift would be a collection of her children’s testimonies written down. You can have these bound in a book. If you are adults you may want to include pictures of your family and possibly the testimonies of your children as well. This would be a gift she would likely cherish forever.

4) If you are helping young children do something for their mom, you can have them make their own cards. A hand drawn and colored picture means so much more than a store bought card. You can help your children make breakfast for your wife as well.

5) If your life loves to read you may want to give her some books as well. You may consider “All Moms Go to Heaven” by Dean Hughes, “A Heart Like His: Making Space for God’s Love in Your Life” by Virginia H. Pearce, or “I Am a Mother” by Jane Clayson Johnson. A great gift that goes along with this is an afternoon or two in which you give your wife quiet time to read on her own.
