Stunts are a lot of fun for a lot of reasons. First, you only need one or two adventurous souls to perform them. Second, almost anyone can do them with enough practice. Finally, if you can get enough people to try them at a party or family gathering, it can incite a LOT of laughs.
Here are some of my favorite tricks. FYI: I can’t do a lot of these, but manage to amuse all of my friends when I try.
1. Ankle Throw
Use a hacky-sack, Nerf ball or other fairly small, soft object and try to toss it over your head with your feet. This is done by placing the object firmly between your ankles, then jumping suddenly, jerking your legs back in an awkward, but upward throw. This will hopefully result in the object flying over your head. You can give added credit if the player actually catches the object.
2. Catch the Pennies
Raise one elbow level with your shoulder with your arm bent toward your chest. Have someone place one or more pennies in a pile on your bent elbow. Quickly drop the elbow while moving the same hand downward to catch as many of the pennies as possible before they fall to the ground.
3. Arm’s Length Tag
This is a really funny two player game. Two players stand at arm’s length away from each other with their arms extended full length at shoulder level. Then, try to tag each other without being tagged yourself. This requires some rapid twisting, dodging and bending, and can yield some hilarious movements. Touching the other player’s hands doesn’t count though.
4. Dog Jump
Hold a stick horizontally in front of you with your forefingers pressing it to keep it still. Then try to bend forward and jump over the stick without letting go. Then try to jump backward so you’re in the same position you were when you started.
5. Scales
Hold an object at arms length as long as possible. It’s amazing to discover how “heavy” an object can become when you’re holding it in front of you for a long time.
Again, these are games that most everyone can try, but may not be successful at. Players who attempt the stunt should have a healthy amount of humility!
