Five Ways Craigslist is Very Frugal

Take advantage of Craigslist to save and even make money. Here are five different ways that Craigslist is a frugal favorite.

Yard Sales

Craigslist is a yard sale lover’s best resource. There are plenty of yard sales posted, including ones that are spur of the moment. Seeing all of the locations in one place will help you best determine which sales are worth the effort and to map out your route.

The format allows posters to offer long descriptions of items, as well as photos.

Plus, a lot of the larger community-based sales are advertised on Craigslist, so you’ll be sure not to miss them.

Having a yard sale of your own? Why pay for advertising? Post your ad for free on Craigslist.

Free Stuff

Craigslist has a free stuff section where people advertise goods and services that they are willing to give away for free. From furniture to photography, there are a lot of great freebies to be had. Some folks even post curb alerts to notify others of interesting stuff that they see abandoned on the curb and left for others to find.

Odd Jobs

Need to make a little money or find something for a teenager to do over the summer? Take a look at all of the job needs on Craigslist. From tutoring, to research, to helping someone pack for a move, there are plenty of part time opportunities out there. Who wants to do the same job all of the time? Make some extra cash and sample some interesting jobs.

Selling

Do you have some clutter in your home or a product that you can make and sell? Use Craigslist to get it off of your hands and the money into your pocket. I have a friend who buys name brand children’s clothing at yard sales and then resells it on Craigslist for a tidy little profit. The ads are free, so you can take advantage of this to sell even small items.

Bartering

Need your house painted but don’t have the skill or the thousands of dollars to spend. Barter what you have for what you need, whether it is a service or some goods. This is a great way to save money!
