Flavored Water and Weight Loss

“You keep telling people to drink lots of water. I can’t stand plain water and I don’t want to buy expensive flavored waters. Any suggestions?”

There are several ways to give your water a touch of flavor without adding lots of sugar and calories. If you don’t want to spend money on beverage mixes like Crystal Light or South Beach Diet, here are some low calorie, high flavor options to explore:

Lemon or Lime

I don’t know about you but I always have a bottle each of RealLemon Lemon and Lime Juice in the refrigerator. If you want to add a bit of zing to your water, try adding a splash of lemon juice, lime juice or both.

Brew Fruit Flavored Sun Tea

No boiling water. No special tea pot. No muss. No fuss.
Simply take a large, clean, glass pitcher or jar (I use a gallon sized pickle jar), fill it with water and drop four tea bags in it.
Then take your pitcher or jar and place it on a sunny window sill.
By the time you’re done having breakfast, this tea will be nicely brewed and none too hot.
Drink it chilled from the refrigerator or over ice.

Use herbal tea bags that don’t contain caffeine. I prefer the fruit flavored teas like those Celestial Seasonings offers. They have a wide variety of flavors so you’re bound to find at least one that you like. If you get the fruit flavored teas then there will be no need to sweeten it at all. Some of their flavors are naturally sweet anyway. Herbal teas are all natural and don’t contain sweeteners and using four tea bags to flavor a whole gallon of water is very inexpensive. If you want to be adventurous, try a tea sampler pack. Another refreshing idea: peppermint or spearmint sun tea. It is excellent over ice on a hot summer day!
