Whether you grow your own flowers or buy them from a florist, or even if you just pick up some pretty things on a nature walk, the beauty of flowers can be enhanced by an artful arrangement. But don’t worry, you won’t need a degree in floral design to create some professional looking displays. Just use the following tips to help you arrange your nature as a professional might.
One really easy way to arrange your flowers with style is to recreate the shape that they take when they are growing outside in nature. For example, left a branch of berries lean over as it might in the woods. An iris should stand up tall and proud, while bouquets that are branchy should be able to reach out from the vase or container.
If you have a multitude of flowers to add to a vase, you might have a hard time with them, as they tend to slip out of place easily. But you can create a secure bases by interweaving the stems. Don’t worry, it isn’t as hard as it sounds. Simply turn your container as you add stems, and the stems will twist and interlock themselves.
Trim like flowers to different lengths to add interest to your display. Flowers seldom grow to all of the same length in nature. If you like very tidy bouquets, simply trim in a rounded shape, so that the outside flowers are shorter than the inside flowers.
When you are really stumped for an arrangement idea, you can’t go wrong with the old standard. Take one type of flower, such as roses or carnations and group them together in a bunch. It is a completely foolproof way of flower arranging that can be done at the last minute. But don’t just jam the flowers into your vase. Make sure you have enough flowers to fill it out, or go with a smaller container.
