Hillary Clinton was First Lady of the United States from 1993-2001. She was a Senator representing New York from 2001-2009. Hillary Clinton was the United States Secretary of State from January 21, 2009 – February 1, 2013.
She was the first former First Lady to serve in the U.S. Senate and in a president’s cabinet. In 2008, Hillary Clinton ran an unsuccessful presidential campaign against Barack Obama.
Health Care
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton believes that affordable health care is a basic human right. She will “continue to defend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) against Republican efforts to repeal it.” In addition, she wants to expand affordable drug coverage, and slow the growth of health care costs (including prescription drugs).
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton has fought to protect and strengthen Medicare throughout her career. She will fight against Republican efforts to privatize or “phase out” Medicare.
Women’s Health Care
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton believes that women’s personal health decisions should be made by a woman, her family, and her faith, with the counsel of her doctor.
She will stand up to Republican attempts to defund Planned Parenthood. It should be noted that Planned Parenthood is the largest provider of cancer screenings, breast exams, contraception, and safe, legal, abortion, in the United States. According to her official website, Hillary Clinton championed access to emergency contraception as a Senator.
Immigration
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton is in favor of comprehensive immigration reform that provides a full and equal path to citizenship. She will fight against politically motivated lawsuits that put DREAMers at risk. Hillary Clinton wants to end family detention and to close private immigrant detention centers.
Education
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton has called for investment in early childhood programs (like Head Start). She proposes to expand preschool access so that every four year old in America has access to high-quality preschool in the next ten years.
Jobs
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton wants to restore unions collective bargaining rights. Hillary Clinton believes that when unions are strong, America is strong. She is in favor of raising the minimum wage and expanding overtime rules to millions more workers. She supports equal pay, family leave, earned sick days, and fair schedules.
According to her official website, Hillary Clinton’s “workforce and skills agenda” will help people to get good jobs with good wages throughout their careers.
