You might be THE BEST at planning and organizing in your home business. Perhaps you’ve already done a business plan and have a long-range plan for how to grow and develop your business. But, the truth is, without attention to follow through—with customers, projects, plans and other business details—all that planning can be for naught.
Follow through is incredibly important—whether it is returning phone messages and answering e-mail inquiries, or completing projects that you’ve agreed to, or making sure that you keep on top of your record and bookkeeping. I often hear people say that they either fall into one or the other of two categories—either they are “idea people” or “detail people”—but both of these types of people may not be so keen on the follow through.
Customers and clients really respond well to those who will stick with a problem, project, or situation and follow it through until resolution. I might even go so far as to say that developing an ability to be really consistent with your follow-through will create more loyalty among your clients and customers than just about anything else you might do in your home business.
Whether you need lists, a tickler file, or some other method to help you keep from letting things fall off your plate, whatever you do to encourage and teach yourself how to be dedicated to follow through—your customers, vendors, colleagues and clients will thank you, and be more likely to turn to you again and again. Not only will these people thank you, but your business will definitely reflect the benefits of following through. So, the next time you are tempted to let something slide or slip, gather up the focus to follow through and you will see your business’ reputation grow.
