Foods That Fight Inflammation

Make sure that your diet includes as many of the following food choices as possible. These foods have been shown in studies to fight inflammation in the body. Why is fighting inflammation important? Well, research has shown a real link between inflammation in the body to all sorts of diseases and conditions, such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.

Inflammation can happen from a variety of things from stress to an infection. getting enough sleep and consuming the following types of food can counteract the damage that occurs and calm the inflammation, making you healthier.

Onions

Onions are easier than you think to incorporate into your diet. You can add them to most savory dishes. You can roast them with a chicken, add them to casseroles, put them in soup, add them to salads, even bake them into rolls! If you are used to adding dried diced onion or onion salt to your dishes, consider cooking with whole fresh onions instead to get the most benefit.

There is a wide variety of onions to choose from these days.

Pistachios

My husband uses to eat pistachios all of the time but has fallen out of the habit. I need to remember to add a good sized bag to my grocery list. If you haven’t had pistachios in a while, it might be good to know that you no longer have to get them with the red dye all over them natural pistachios are readily available. Pistachios are a great snack to eat out of hand. They are very portable and a good choice to bring to work, pack in school lunches or have on the road. If you don’t like to eat them raw, consider adding pistachios to cookies and other baked goods.

There are still three other foods that fight inflammation on my list. Be sure to check in tomorrow when I share those remaining three foods. Meanwhile, get your grocery list ready.
