So, how organized is your house right about now? Hopefully, you don’t have any major cleaning left to do, but I bet there is some straightening to be done. There sure is at my house. It looks like Santa’s workshop in here!
I try to organize packages according to which person they are for, making sure I have all the gifts out. I hate to admit that I have forgotten to include things in the past, only to find them after Christmas. So, if you have a stash spot, a really secret one for that special present, make sure you don’t forget. I’ve found that it helps to check them off the list, or at least write down the number of gifts you should have for each person.
There’s also packing up gifts for my nephews and in laws into boxes, so I have them all together and handy when it’s time to pass them out. Those gifts usually stay in my room until later, since that Christmas morning when one of our kiddos kept right on opening gifts, right into other people’s stacks. She couldn’t figure out why we bought her toy trucks and NASCAR stuff.
This works well if you have gifts to deliver as well. Separating gifts that will be opened at home from those that you need to take with if you’re visiting elsewhere on Christmas Eve or Christmas is also a good idea. I usually pack them in the car the night before if we’re going somewhere, to avoid the commotion when it’s time to leave.
Do you have holiday clothes picked out or purchased? Do any of them need to be pressed? Do dress shoes still fit or do they need to be shined? Do you and your family members have dress-socks, tights, pantyhose, or a slip if needed? Hair accessories? Check everything out ahead of time in case you need to run out and grab something at the last minute.
