Looking for something to do with your spouse or the kids this summer? Well, thanks to a new program, military families get complimentary admission to more than 2,000 art, science and history museums from now through labor day!
The new program, called “Blue Star Museums,” includes free entrance at museums in all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa. To be eligible for free admission, you must be active duty, National Guard, Reserve military personnel or a family member.
The Blue Star Museums program is brought to us through Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Department of Defense, MetLife Foundation and the participating museums.
Since many of the participating museums normally charge $18-20 per adult and $10 or more for kids, the savings can really add up. It is a great opportunity for some free and educational fun for the family this summer. Plus, it can help military families who have to uproot get to know their new areas, as they visit local museums. If you are a military family, take advantage of this great program this summer.
To learn more about the program and find out which museums are participating, you can check out the Blue Star Families website at http://www.bluestarfam.org/Programs/Blue_Star_Museums. The list is organized first by state and then by city or town. Make sure to scroll down the list for your state, because some of the museums get hidden in the bottom of the box.
What a great way to give back to the men and women who support our country and keep it safe, as well as to the families that make sacrifices for military service. Forward this article to anyone you know who might benefit from this free museum admission program as a way to say thanks for all that they do for us.
