Free Amazon Prime Trail Membership

In a recent article, Tips for buying at Amazon.com, I mentioned that I sometimes purchase the Amazon Prime membership. Amazon Prime membership allows you to get free two day shipping, no matter how small your purchase is.

Considering that the yearly subscription is $79.00, if you are a regular Amazon shopper and hate waiting for packages, it might be worth it to get the free trial.

There freebies with Amazon Prime are:

One day (overnight) shipping for $3.99
Free standard shipping
No more worrying about shipping charges at all (unless you purchase from a private Amazon vendor) see the disclaimer below:

“Eligible products will be designated on the product page, in the order pipeline, or at check-out. Generally, most items eligible for Super Saver Shipping are also eligible for Amazon Prime Shipping benefits. The program is limited to products sold by Amazon.com and by third-party merchants participating in the Fulfillment by Amazon program.”

Gift cards and some larger or hard to ship items may also not qualify.

Another perk of Amazon Prime is that it can be shared with family members by linking your accounts.

Also, as is common in most trial memberships, if you don’t remember to cancel the membership, you will be charged for a full year. My advice to you is to place an entry on your online Calendar to send you a message two or three days before. This way if you want don’t want to buy a full year membership, you will have plenty of time to cancel.

If you have had an Amazon prime subscription before, you will not qualify for the offer. This means that I do not qualify, but in the past there has always been a Christmas Promotion where you get a discount for signing up. If you are purchasing several hundred dollars worth of goods at Christmas, then you can wait until then (but there is not guarantee that they will have the discount promotion this year.)
