Free Apps for Parents of Kids Who Have Allergies

ipod touch Life can be difficult for parents of kids who have allergies. You never can know, for certain, when your child will accidentally encounter an allergen. Sometimes, being well informed can help keep your child a little bit safer. There are plenty of free apps that are useful for parents of kids with allergies.

Not every allergy related app that you find at the iTunes store, or at Amazon.com, is going to be available for free. Some, like the Allergy Caddy cost a little bit of money to download. However, since I am writing this blog in December, I realize that most people are going to be a little short on cash right now. That is ok, though, because there are plenty of free apps that are helpful for parents of kids who have a variety of allergies.

ZYRTEC AllergyCast is a FREE app that can help parents of children with environmental allergies to plan their day. You can use this app to find out exactly what the allergy forecast will be where you live, or where you will be traveling to. It gives you both today’s and tomorrow’s allergy forecast. This app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Pollen.com’s Allergy Alert is a FREE app that is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. This app can show you the forecast in your area for pollen and other allergens, and also can be used to learn about other environmental factors such as asthma index, ultraviolet, and cold and cough.

Abriiz is a FREE app that can be used with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. This app is designed to help people manage their asthma. Asthma, and allergies, tend to go together. Parents can use this to help them to remember to give their child his or her medication. You can also enter data that can help you analyze asthma triggers, and perhaps improve outcomes.

Gluten Free Restaurant Cards is a FREE app that was designed by CeliacTravel.com. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. This app can be used to show a waiter or restaurant chef information that lets them know the food restrictions for your child who needs to be on a gluten-free diet. The app has 40 cards, in many different languages, that you can show to chefs that do not speak the same language that you do.

RxCase Minder is a FREE app that can be used on Android devices. This app can be used by parents to help them keep track of the many medications that their child requires. It will give you a reminder when it is time to administer the next dose of medication. It can also be used to remind you when you need to refill a prescription or to renew one.

CARD – Contact Allergen Replacement Database is a FREE app that can be used with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. This app was created with the Mayo Clinic, and is the world’s most complete contact allergen database. Parents can use this app to find out what products contain things that their child is allergic to, or that triggers their child’s contact dermatitis.
