I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! If it wasn’t for Rocky Road, I’d be thin as a rail! Okay, maybe that’s an exaggeration. But I know I’m far above the national average in consumption. It’s “only” 5.7 gallons of ice cream each. That seems awfully low to me! When we have ice cream, we eat three half gallons among the seven of us (okay, three 1.75 quarts – cheapskates!). I’d guess our consumption is probably closer to twice the national average. I’m eating someone else’s, I suppose.
Premium ice creams are on the rise; brands like Haagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s are posting bigger profits every year. B&J’s started out catering to a niche crowd. Either you love ‘em or you hate ‘em. There doesn’t seem to be a middle. Their politics may seem extreme to some while others embrace them. You’ll want to get in on their free ice cream cone deal either way. Either you love them and you want a free sample to pique your tastebuds for more, or you want a free sample because it tastes great and you’d never actually buy it.
On Tuesday, April 17th (that’s TODAY), enjoy a free cone of Ben & Jerry’s at any of their locations. Just come in from 12 – 8. You don’t need a coupon or anything. One per customer, of course. They do this every year as a customer appreciation. They have been doing it since they opened.
Nothing will ever beat Haagen-Dazs’ Triple Chocolate, but I do confess that I enjoy Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia – once a year, anyway ;-). Cherry Garcia was actually a flavor that a consumer sent in as an idea. Pretty smart person. Smart palate, anyway. Chunky Monkey, another favorite, was also concocted not in a taste laboratory, but in someone’s kitchen. Whatever your preference, you can’t beat today’s price!
