You should never again have to shell out a single penny for a coloring book. Here is why: The Internet. Yes, it is true, this magical thing we all know, love and are using right this very instant provides us adults and our families with, through hundreds and hundreds of individual websites, coloring sheets and pages featuring virtually everything under the sun. From 101 Dalmatians to Yu-Gi-Oh (I have to admit that I haven’t the slightest clue what Yu-Gi-Oh is exactly, but there are coloring sheets available for it!), there are dozens and dozens of free black and white renditions of our children’s favorite characters, vehicles and pastimes. All of them are just waiting to be printed off and splashed with color. What we as parents need to do is visit a webpage or two and have access to a black and white printer.
The great thing about having standalone sheets is the portability of the pages. You do not need to worry about carrying around a whole book or give a moment’s thought to haphazardly ripping pages out of the $1.99 coloring book you bought at the supermarket. Not only are these coloring sheets free of charge, but also they can be folded up and stashed away in the glove box of the car, your pocketbook, diaper bag or breast pocket of a dress shirt (not that I regularly carry kid’s coloring sheets there, but I have, on occasion, been prepared to head directly from work to a restaurant!)
Think of all the money you will save when you stop buying big bulky coloring books! This is money that you can put towards more crayons and colored pencils – your kids will be coloring so much they will wear out your current collection of Crayola crayons! You can also funnel some of those saved dollars and purchase some inexpensive frames, then have a Do It Yourself Art Show in your home.
