This could be your week to go check out a genealogy event, course, workshop, or meeting of a genealogical society. Often, these types of events are free. Some of these classes require pre-registration. The majority of the genealogy events listed in this blog will be taking place in Sacramento, California. One is going to be held in Winslow, Maine.
The Sacramento Public Library which is located in Sacramento, California, is offering three Sunday afternoon genealogy seminars in September. Registration is required. The classes are free to attend. They are:
September 9, 2012, “Genealogy On the Go With the iPad or Tablet” will be presented by Lisa Louise Cooke. This class will begin at 1:30 in the afternoon.
September 16, 2012, “Build Your Own Genealogy Blog” will be presented by Craig Siulinski. This class will begin at 1:30 in the afternoon.
September 23, 2012, “The WPA, Resources for Your Genealogy” will be presented by Gena Philibert Ortega. This class will start at 1:30 in the afternoon.
The Family History Center, which is also located in Sacramento, California, also will be offering a series of genealogy classes. They are also free to attend. They are:
On September 12, 2012, there will be a class called “Newspaper Research” that will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon. It will be presented at Kathryn Moore. On the same day, at 7:00 in the evening, there will be a class called “Social Security” that will be presented by Pam Dallas.
On September 19, 2012, there will be a class called “Italian Research” that will be presented by Jerry Googiel. It will begin at 2:00 in the afternoon. Later, at 7:00 in the evening, another class, called “Using Dropbox for Genealogy and More” will be presented by Marian Kile.
On September 26, 2012, at 2:00 in the afternoon, there will be a class called “City Directories, A Problem Solving Approach”. It will be presented by Glenda Lloyd. At 7:00 in the evening, there will be a class called “Family History Center Portal” that will be presented by Gordon Orchard.
On September 15, 2012, the Taconnet Falls Genealogy Library, which is located in Winslow, Maine, will have a free open house. Come learn how to get started working on your genealogy at the library, take a tour of the library, and join a raffle that includes a cash prize. The open house will start at 1:00 in the afternoon and will end at 4:00 in the afternoon. It is free to attend.
