Check your grocery insert for this week. There are Albertson’s coupons. At first glance, they look decent, but not exceptionally so. Purex laundry detergent is 3/$10. That’s a good price for 100 oz bottles, but probably not enough to make me drive the 25 minutes to our nearest Albie’s. I almost missed the small print under the FREE banner. “Free! Milk or fresh meat, max value $2.50.” It looks like I’ll be stocking up on meat this week!
The coupon prices are decent. I looked and I don’t have but three manufacturers’ coupon to combine with the Albertson’s ones. If your coupon stash is bigger, it might be an even deeper savings. There is no indication that these coupons are one per person, so I’ll be asking my neighbors for their inserts or doing a little recycle center dumpster diving.
Here’s an example: Barilla Pasta Sauce has a coupon for $5 for two bottles. My family happens to love the Barilla Sauce, so $2.50 apiece would be an okay price. It’s one of the coupons I do have, so .35 comes off. Now it’s $4.65 for two. But then I get to add in the meat! Of course I’ll buy the maximum. It doesn’t make sense to get only $2 worth of meat when the coupon is up to $2.50. So I’ll have the butcher repackage the meat into about $2.50 worth. They will always do this. If there are only $2 packs of meat out, take it to the counter and ask for it to be repackaged. I’ve never had them tell me no. Albertson’s meat is good – better than the commissary’s, but not as good as Kroger’s. The prices are right, though. For $4.65, I’ll be getting two jars of Barilla and $2.50 worth of meat. Not too bad!
When these coupons come up, you’ll usually get a better deal by buying the less expensive combinations because the $2.50 off meat or milk is per coupon, with no limit. You’ll need a loyalty card. This ad went to all of the Northwest, but my sister in the CA Bay Area said she has a similar one. Don’t let it pass by. It’s only good until the 30th.
Make sure you check Albertsons.com to see what local coupons are also available. I was surprised to find printable coupons from their site for the deals in their circular.
Let me know how you did!
