As I’ve mentioned in previous blogs, my husband is an accomplished musician. His latest foray is into piano music. He’s been really happy to find so many people who want to use his music for other projects: church services, a public service announcement on television, videos, and more. He is part of a whole community of musicians who offer their music at no charge. No file sharing, no illegal downloads. Whether your taste runs more toward Bach or more toward rock, there are places for you to get free music. Here is a short list of sites I know to be reliable:
Piano
Whisperings Piano – This is the premier piano site on the web. They offer a free stream or a subscription stream for only $5/mo. We have the subscription service and it’s what’s most often on when I’m writing. Whisperings: Solo Piano Radio also has in-person concerts. We went to one in Seattle and were thrilled! It was so much more fun than I thought it would be.
Free Solo Piano – New Age .mp3s and sheet music to match.
Healing Piano – Musician Chuck Brown freely shares piano tracks from his three albums.
Piano Society – Free classical piano recordings.
Jazz Piano Music – Contemporary jazz artist, Hiromi, shares a free EP.
Guitars and Other Instrumental
Free Solo Guitar – Instrumental-only tracks available for free download.
Great Instrumental Downloads – A selected few .mp3s of jazz, guitars, and more.
Christian MP Free – Disclaimer: this is Paul’s site. Selected songs from quality musicians who hope you’ll like their music so much that you’ll buy the whole album.
Great Songs Free – Selections from Jeff Woffard.
Songs of Praise – Elton Smith’s huge collection of original and classic songs.
Christmas
Christmas MP Free – Original and classic holiday music.
Feels Like Christmas – Instrumental and vocal classics.
