Free Turkey – or almost free….

Free turkeys and low cost deals on this delicious bird abound this year. Many Walmarts are running low on the $5 small birds, but they still have some at prices ranging from .60 to .98 a pound and up. Butterballs are on sale at Walmart, and you can use the $2 coupon from Smartsource.com. Buy Stopetop or Heinz homestyle Gravy and save $2 on another Butterball!

You’ll get a free turkey (10*20 lbs frozen) when you spend $150 at Fred Meyer with the in-ad coupon. If you stpend $100-$149 your turkey is .49 a pound. If you spend $50-99.99, the turkey is .59 a pound.

It isn’t clear if this is $150 before or after coupons. You should probably give them your turkey coupon first.

Food Lion also has free turkey at participating stores with your MVP card. This is if you shop 6 out of 8 weeks and spend at least $45 a week. Again, it doesn;t say if this is before or after coupons. The value is $20.

Shoprite has a free turkey if you spend $300 between Sunday, Oct 18 and Thursday, Nov 26.

All this sure seems like a lot of money to spend for a turkey. Unless you can do this and count coupons as cash, just shop for the lowest price – unless this is your normal spending pattern. Then go for it!

Don’t foget to pick up stuffing, gravy (if you don’t make it fron scratch) cranberries, Fruits and veges, green beans for the casserole, and of course, items for pumpkin pie. Free turkey or not, those tend to be on sale, and have good deals with coupons.

Many stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. You need to stock up now, to be sure you have enough on hand. More than ever this year, stores are anxious to have you shop with them. They’re offering you deals to keep you coming in! Use this for your advantage.
