Freezer Cooking: Sharing With a Friend

Freezer cooking is a big job if you plan to do several weeks at a time. In fact, it can dominate a major part of a day, and can even sometimes require a second day. While I don’t mind, some other’s get lonely, they get stressed and frustrated and honestly, it’s the light at the end of the tunnel (the several weeks worth of frozen meals) that get them through the whole process.

It does not have to be that bad. In fact, a freezer cooking session can be quite enjoyable. Especially if you invite a friend along! Invite a neighbor, family member or friend, to spend the day with you. If you are lucky, you can enlist their help, and you might even get them interested in freezer cooking too. But if they show no interest, then that is alright. At least you have a friend to share the day with.

However, hopefully your friend would be willing to help out. I cannot imagine someone not willing to lend a hand in the kitchen, even if you don’t ask. Really, your friend or family member could do some of the easier, yet tedious work that you have to do for the various recipes. Perhaps they could do such things as chopping fruits or vegetables, cutting meat into strips or dicing, opening cans and jars, measuring out ingredients, etc. Honestly, any help you can get on a freezer cooking session day, is a huge help. And the laughter and chatter that should accompany two friends cooking, should be more than relaxing.

And one last thing. If you do invite someone to come and help, be sure to make them at least two or three frozen meals to take home with them. Be sure and provide the recipe for the meal, how to properly cook the meal when they are ready to eat it, and be there to encourage them to perhaps try out a freezer cooking session as well. And don’t forget, when they decide it’s time to try it out, you should be with them too!
