Fridays are a great part of the week – they are the day we kick back and relax and try to wind up our week on a positive note. When we’ve skipped our workouts at some point during the week, we’ll start to feel a bit of nagging guilt because whether we had good excuses for missing the workout or not – we feel guilt for having missed a day.
For example, I’ve missed every one of my workouts this week and I know that my excuses were valid – my husband is recovering from major surgery and sleeping a lot. Our workout equipment is mostly in the bedroom – so perhaps you can see the dilemma. Still – the guilt is there and so I thought about some of the goofiest excuses I’ve ever heard or seen for why someone missed their workout and the laughter made me feel a bit better.
Some of the best excuses I’ve heard for missing a workout:
- My dog needed to go out
- My dog wanted to play
- I forgot to record my television program
- The phone rang and the dog went outside and wouldn’t come back in
- I couldn’t find my running shoes
- It was cold
- It was hot
- I didn’t have good music to listen to
These are just a few of the excuses that I’ve heard and one that I could add to this list and that actually did happen was that my dog chewed up one of my weights. It was one of my five-pound hand weights and he chewed all the rubber off of it – I could still use the weight, it was just ugly. At one point, he also chewed through one of the resistance bands on the Bowflex – talk about the dog eating your homework?
