If you are a frequent reader of the blogs I write for Families.com, you have probably noticed that I spend a good majority of the time writing about the Word of God. In fact, I would probably say that 90% of my writing deals with the Word of God, or approaches the subject matter from a Biblical perspective. I am of the very strong belief it is impossible to know the Lord without knowing His Word. I want to look at everything in my life from the standpoint of the Bible. Below I have listed just a few of the many reasons I desire to search and study the Bible.
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is the authority, giving us everything we need for a life of service to God. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2nd Timothy 3:16-17)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because everyone will be judged by the things which are in the Bible. In John 12:48 Jesus states: “The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.”
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it answers the three great questions: Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? The Bible clearly explains the origin of man as well as the destiny of man.
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is the very Word of God. (2nd Timothy 3:16-17)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is truth. “The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.” (Psalm 119:160)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is our guide. “I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.” (Jeremiah 10:23) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because God’s wisdom is infinitely superior to man’s wisdom. (1st Corinthians 1:18-31)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is sustenance of man. “But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matthew 4:4)
- I want to look at everything from the standpoint of the Bible because it is eternal. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our Lord will stand forever.” (Isaiah 40:8)
