Everyone wants their home to be perfectly decorated and beautiful. However, decorating the trendy fashionable way can be expensive, especially to those on a budget. The costly items that stores sell such as decorative frames, bowls and centerpieces can be made at home, or created from something you already have, for much less than the stores asking price!
So if you are one of those people, who has tons of items stored in cabinets, drawers and maybe even on shelves, and you aren’t using them, it is time to pull them out and be creative.
Ashtrays
With many people quitting their smoking habits these days, often we are left with ashtrays that are absolutely beautiful, but now serve no purpose. It is time to give them a new more creative purpose.
- Fill them with different shapes and sizes of soaps and leave them in the bathroom.
- Fill them with potpourri or dried flowers and you can place them in a bathroom, bedroom or even the living room.
- Fill the ashtray with hard candies, nuts or even after dinner mints and leave them out on a counter or end table.
Centerpieces
Different sized crystal or wood bowls often find themselves sitting behind closed doors waiting for the next party, or special occasion. And sometimes they really have no use at all, we just keep them because they are too beautiful or we are too sentimental to give them up.
- Fill a glass or crystal bowl with water and float some flowers in the water.
- Fill a glass or crystal bowl with water and float some candles in it.
- Fill a wood bowl or crystal bowl with pine cones, leaves, rocks or any other nature type item you can find in your yard. Even different sized sticks with some rocks could make a beautiful centerpiece.
- Tie ribbon around the bowls to add some flair, or place a place mat or other piece of fabric beneath the bowl.
