Why spend lots of $$$ for all of those specialized car cleaning products? Here are some great tips on what you can use to clean your car, inside and out and do it frugally.
When you want to clean your car’s tires, specifically the white walls, don’t be gouged by buying a product specifically made for car tires. Instead, grab a little bit of your bathroom cleaner to do the trick. Lysol Tub and Tile and Scrubbing Bubbles are two products that I know work wonderfully on tires. They get the white walls really white, and they are less expensive than those very specific tire cleaners.
For soda and other similar liquid stains on your car’s upholstery, make your own cleaner to safely dissolve the stains away. Create a mixture of 50 percent vinegar and 50 percent water. Then rub the mixture on the stain using a toothbrush in a circular motion. This frugal cleaning tip will help take out some of those really touch stains that even the car detailers struggle with cleaning.
One of the things that is going to plague our car this year is pine sap. Now that we have a lot of trees on our property, just parking the car in the driveway is bound to result in some pine sap on the surface. This is notoriously hard to clean without damaging the car’s paint. An easy and frugal way to tackle this problem, though, is by using a soft cloth and 70 percent rubbing alcohol. You can find rubbing alcohol in any drug store or grocery store for less than $1.
Finally, here is a tip that is really more about preventing a clean up in the winter. Remember all of those times that when you are cold and late for work, school or wherever you are going because there is a thick layer of ice on your windshield? Have some vinegar and water handy in a spray bottle. Spray down your windshield when you park your car for the night. It will prevent that thick ice from forming on the windshield, and you will be good to go the next morning.
