Frugal Freezer Breakfast Meals 2

It is a lot of fun to have a morning, or an afternoon or even a day to create a wealth of freezer breakfast meals that you can have on hand. Buying breakfast outside can get really expensive. Just think about it. Even if you only spend $5 a day, 5 days a week, that is $25 a week that you could spend on something else (or save of course).

Prepare a bunch of easy items for breakfast ahead of time. A few hours will net you enough breakfast for a month.

In my last blog post, I offered some suggestions for easy and frugal freezer breakfast meals. Now here are some more ideas.

Muffins

Muffins can be made in an almost endless variety, and yes, they freeze very well. You can pop them in the microwave or toaster oven to warm up, or just throw one or two in your lunch bag or on the kitchen counter the night before you need them. Muffins aren’t just for breakfast anymore. They can be used as snacks as well.

After your muffins cool, simply place them in freezer bags and then freeze. Make muffins in different sizes–jumbo ones, standard ones and mini ones. I like making several kinds/flavors and organize them in the freezer, so everyone can pick what type they feel like for the day.

Waffles

Homemade waffle are generally more nutritious and much cheaper than the frozen waffles you buy at the store. Buttermilk waffle are our favorite, but make any kind that you like. The key here is to save time by using two or three waffle irons (or waffle makers) at a time. You can pick these up so cheaply at a yard sale or a thrift store, and one machine this way will usually cost you less than a box of those frozen waffles.

Freeze the waffles flat on a cookie sheet for 30 minutes and then place them in freezer bags, or freeze them right away in your favorite container by placing wax paper between each layer.
