Conquering The Grocery Waste (1)
Recent studies estimate that Americans waste approximately 25 percent of their groceries instead of consuming them. If you factor in an average cost of $7,000 a year on groceries (this is the number for a household of three, so it will vary according to your location and family size), you get a waste of $1750 a year. That is money that is just going into the garbage! Think of what you could do with all of that money! You could donate it to charity; you could pay off bills; you could afford a vacation or maybe even give up a number of hours that you work to earn an income.

Kids just love those glow-in-the-dark stars that you stick to the ceiling, don’t they. They are generally made out of plastic or come in sticker form. If you want to cover an entire ceiling, these stars can get pretty expensive. Well, here is a smarter way to fill your ceiling with stars for a fraction of the cost. And, as a bonus, these stars take care of the two main problems you get with the store-bought ceiling stars. Either they won’t stay on the ceiling, falling off instead, or they stick so tightly to that ceiling that you can never get them off without damaging the ceiling itself.

If you have had a chance to follow my blogs, then you know that I am a big advocate of reducing paper towel waste. Not only is it frugal to do so, but it is also good for the environment. To take the place of those paper towels, we use terry cloth towels and thing terry washcloths for the kitchen. We can go through several of these towels and cloths in a day. They do everything from wipe sticky hands and faces to clean up spills and dry dishes. I like to keep a good number of the towels available. When soiled, then go into the washing machine. Having many of the towels available allows me to run a full wash load of them.
