Frugal Practices You Won’t See Me Doing Any Time Soon

Once in a while I run into yet another frugal idea that I probably will never try for myself at home, either because it is impractical or it carries too much of a ew factor for me. I try not to judge anyone who practices their frugal ideas, I mean most people think that I’m being too cheap when I was out baggies, but some ideas I simply can’t get past.

Here is my current list of frugal practices you won’t see me doing any time soon.

Save on water usage by shaving only one leg at a time and then alternating legs. If I tried doing that, I’d probably forget which leg it was that needed to be shaved and then wind up looking like a lop-sided big foot or something. And what about underarms? Do you alternate them too? Which arm can I wave to say hello?

Using styrofoam egg cartons as ice trays. I admit that it is a nice idea to repurpose a material that can’t be reused, but here is where the ew factor kicks in. Eggs come with plenty of bacteria, and I would be really leery about using egg cartons for a food item that isn’t getting cooked. You could argue that the egg carton could be washed, but I’m still not sure how it could be disinfected safely.

Split two-ply toilet paper into two rolls of one-ply each. I won’t be doing this from a purely practical reason. One, I think it would take more time than it would save money. Two, wouldn’t we simply use the same amount of toilet paper anyway, taking more sheets to make up for the difference in bulk?

What are some of the frugal practices that you would never do? Please leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
