You read that right, bricks – frugal uses for bricks. I chose to find uses for bricks based on two of my neighbors and their plentiful amount of leftover bricks from various projects that currently are sitting in their back yards. Bricks have a lot of great uses, including several that can seriously save you money. Bricks are also fairly inexpensive and often people are seriously wishing someone would just come and hall them away.
Walkways
Use them to create a path or walkway through your garden or in your front yard. Looks pretty and uses up those bricks. They are also great for lining concrete patios and making them look really nice.
Book End
You probably knew it would be here. You can use all types of materials to cover the bricks, like fabric, paint or wallpaper. Design them to match your home décor and then place them on either end of a row of books. They actually look great and you can do this all over the house. Get the kids involved and they might find new uses for those bricks too.
Paper Weight
Another oldie but goody. Do the same thing you did to turn them into book ends. Decorate them to match your office or another room in your home, especially one that might have a ceiling fan. It is an attractive way to keep papers in place.
Shelves
You’ll see this tip offered again in an article about what to do with old piece of wood. Using a flat piece of wood and several stacks of bricks, you can create a nice shelf. You can paint everything to match, and without truly looking the whole thing can take on the appearance of a bookshelf. You can stack the bricks on the wood further up too, creating more and more shelves, just be careful that it is sturdy or use a strong cement to keep the bricks in place.
I love finding new uses for things I have access to or find lying around my house. Saving money wherever you can, is important. Watch the frugal living blog for more great tips and another article on More Frugal Uses for Bricks.
