Frugal Valentine’s Day Fun For Kids (2)

Want some more fun ideas to do with your kids to celebrate Valentine’s Day? Then don’t look any further and you will find lots of fun ways to enjoy this holiday for very little money.

Crafty Fun – Have some fun making some Valentine’s Day crafts and decorations to fill your home. You can do a search on the Internet or check out some kids craft books from the library and have fun together.

Kitchen Time – Bake a batch of cupcakes with your kids and allow them to decorate them with pretty pink, red or white icing and plenty of sprinkles. Cut their sandwiches into a heart using a cookie cutter. You can even make heart shaped ice cubes if you have a mold. We have one for jello and when we are finished creating some jello hearts, we will fill it with ice and freeze. It will be a very LOVE filled meal that night!

Rent a Movie – Have a Valentine’s Day movie fest. Grab a couple of videos from the library or the movie rental spot and enjoy laughing together. Look for Charlie Brown’s Valentine’s Day video and there are dozens of others including many popular characters. Ask your librarian to help you find a few.

Make a Scrapbook Page – Yes, the scrapbooker in me had to get this one out there. Consider creating a special Valentine’s Day page showing the fun things you did together. You might also consider creating a mini album together. Allow your child to list five things he loves about each family member.

As I mentioned before, Valentine’s Day is about celebrating the people we love. This isn’t just for our significant others, but also about letting our children know we love them too. Spending time together in a fun way, is a great way to let your child know you love them and care about them. Have fun!
