As a frugal fashionista, I purchase a lot of clothing items on EBay. The items I purchase most often are my daughters Character Shoes for drama club, Pageant accessories, lingerie, and winter sweaters.
Pricewise, there are several things you need to consider when you are shopping on Ebay. The one question you need to ask yourself is: can I purchase it somewhere else cheaper? When considering these questions, you must not only look at the asking price (for buy-it-now) or the highest amount you or willing to bid, but you must also look at what the seller is asking for shipping and handling.
Besides prices, the other major thing you need to consider when buying on EBay is how long you are willing to wait for the item. If you are purchasing dance shoes for the season and getting them at less than half the price you would pay in stores, you may be willing to wait for a week or two for the auction to end and the seller to ship the item. If you need new shoes for a special occasion in five day, an auction is not something you want to chance. EBay is strictly for the shopper with time on his or her hands.
As I mentioned above, there are a few key items that I like to purchase on Ebay. As for all other items, I am a very careful and take alot of precautions. I can purchase character shoes online because I know the two major brand names intimately and know how the sizes run. With this knowledge, I always get a perfect fit. I always order the same make and model for lingerie as well. Any other clothing item I order on Ebay has to be stretchy to allow room for error.
In addition, when ordering on Ebay, any good auction lister will put detailed measurements of the outfit in the body of the auction. Never purchase anything without comparing measurements to your body first.
Finally, check the auction for return details. If you receive an item that was not as described, did not fit according to measurements, or you plain-old just didn’t like, you need to be able to return it with minimal loss.
