Frugalista Fashions: Have you done your winter shopping yet?

I realize it is July 10. So why would I be suggesting winter shopping? Well, the answer is that you have exactly 20 days to get into the stores and snatch up last years winter left-overs for next to nothing.

True, your options may be limited, and styles a little outdated, but it would be silly to not purchase mainstays for your wardrobe while they are still cheap; before the new fall fashions hit the market.

Yesterday, for example, I spent the afternoon at the mall for my daughters birthday. I invited her to bring a friend, and as her a gift, I gave her $50.00 to spend. (I highly recommend giving teens money for shopping because once the money is theirs, they spend more carefully.) Anyway, I was quickly reminded of why I like shopping in July. If you go straight to the clearance racks, you will find turtle neck shirts and other long sleeve tops to layer and keep you warm during the winter. You will find sweaters, and light jackets left over from spring that will still work great in the fall months.

Our banner purchase yesterday as a beautiful jacket that I could not believe was still in the stores. (Surely a side effect of a bad economy). It was a $40.00 electric blue knee length jacket with a define waist line. It was only $10.00 and will easily be one of the mainstay’s of her wardrobe in the fall. It will look great with her sweater and legging sets that she wore almost every day last winter.

Other items on clearance I noticed in the mall that you need to purchase right now are:

Leather Jackets from Wilson Suede and Leather are on Clearance as new designs are coming soon.

There were a few pairs of winter shoes and boots marked down to nothing.

All sandals were on sale, as we are getting pretty far into the summer and school shoes will be out soon.

Jeans are on sale! They are not marked down as far as everything else, but stores want to get rid of last years’ styles to bring in the latest and greatest.
