Fun and Affordable Father’s Day Gifts

Give the gift of love this Father’s Day by helping your kids craft the following fun and affordable items for dear ol’ dad. Not only will you gain a practical gift to give, but also, your kids will beam with pride knowing that they created a Father’s Day present straight from the heart.

CRAFT STICK PENCIL/PEN/TV REMOTE HOLDER

Materials:

Small Pringles Can or soup can

24 Craft Sticks

Foam Letter Stickers that spell “DAD,” “DADDY” or “POP”

Craft Glue

Rubber Band

Vinyl Scraps

Directions:

Spread a thin layer of glue all over the outside of a clean soup or Pringles can.

Cover the can with craft sticks lining up the bottom of the sticks with the bottom of the can.

Use the rubber band to hold the sticks in place while the glue dries.

Place the stickers on can to spell out “DAD” or “DADDY.”

Cut two strips of vinyl 3/4-inch by 12 inches.

Glue one around the bottom of the can and the other around the top of the can.

Allow glue to dry thoroughly before presenting gift to dad.

ROCK PAPERWEIGHT

Materials:

Medium-sized rock

Paint and Brush

Foam letter stickers

Foam stickers in shape of music notes

Directions:

Paint the rock in your dad’s favorite color. Let dry.

Stick on the letters to spell out “DAD YOU ROCK.”

Add music note stickers.

BASEBALL CAP NOTE HOLDER

Materials:

Six-inch Styrofoam ball

Paint and brush

Craft foam

Foam letter stickers

Craft glue

Serrated knife

Pushpins

Directions:

Use the knife to cut the Styrofoam ball in half.

Rub the two pieces of Styrofoam together to “sand” them flat.

Draw a large oval on the craft foam. Cut out.

Glue to the bottom of the cut ball to make the brim of the hat.

Cut out a small circle to represent a button for the top.

Paint the ball, brim and button so they match. Allow paint to dry thoroughly.

Stick foam letters to the front of the cap to spell “DAD.”

Glue the button to the top of cap.

Add some pushpins and small note paper (with best wishes for a Happy Father’s Day) to the top and sides of cap.
