One of my dearest friends is pregnant with her first child, so as I mentioned in my previous blog, I am collaborating with other pals to throw her the best baby shower ever.
Now that we have the menu somewhat solidified, we’re moving on to the party favors. Here are some of the ideas we have on our list:
SOAP
Find or make your own sweet-smelling soaps in a variety of unique shapes. Then, place them in a cellophane or mesh bag and tie with ribbon or raffia.
CANDLES
You can never go wrong with colorful candles. In fact, you can make your own at home if you have spare time. Homemade candles are easy to personalize by simply adding a photo of the mom-to-be. Otherwise, wrapped scented candles in tulle and tie with ribbons that coordinate with the baby shower colors.
POTPOURRI
Potpourri party favors are affordable and easy to make. Just purchase some pretty colored sachet bags, and fill them two-thirds of the way with store-bought or homemade potpourri. Guests can use them to freshen up their linen closet, car or sock drawer.
PLANTS
Small potted plants wrapped in baby diapers make cute shower favors. Either purchase a few plants from a discount store or use some of your own. If you don’t have small plants, simply cut some shoots off your favorite larger plants and place them in small pots. Then, cut felt into triangles; put these around the little pots, fold up the bottom corner, and use the other two corners to form the diaper. Secure with a diaper pin.
Tip: Find felt that matches the baby shower colors or theme.
CANDY AND COOKIES
Edible treats are easy party favors. Choose your guests’ favorite candy, and place it in pretty favor boxes, tulle or cellophane bags, tied with a bow. You can personalize each with a baby related charm or a message.
Homemade cookies are also great favors, especially since there are so many baby-related cookie cutters to choose from. Popular choices include teddy bears, ducks and bunnies.
