October is only two days old yet some of these family-friendly Halloween events have been going on since just after Labor Day. Don’t get left out in the cold by sticking around the house all day raking leaves and arranging corn stalks. Grab the kids and head out for some family-friendly Halloween fun at these popular theme parks:
CALIFORNIA
Knott’s Berry Farm–Halloween Happenings
From now until November 1st your clan can go crazy in the 160-acre Horror-fest. In celebration of the spooky holiday the park has been transformed into a scare-a-thon filled with 12 menacing mazes, six hair-raising shows, four frightening scare zones, and a cast of a thousand monsters roaming the grounds in search of their next victims. Not recommended for kids under 16.
Legoland—-Brick-or-Treat
For younger ghouls and goblins LEGOLAND near San Diego has created a festive environment from the popular toy bricks. Each weekend during the month of October the theme park is hosting a special “Brick-or-Treat” event complete with trick-or-treating on the kid-sized Brick-or-Treat Trail, live entertainment from “the Boo Crew” and a LEGO candy corn scavenger hunt. Kids will also get to take home a free souvenir bag filled with commemorative LEGO bricks and other surprises.
PENNSYLVANIA
Sesame Place—-The Count’s Spooktacular Halloween
Travel to Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania from now until the end of October and your little sluggers and ballerinas can go trick-or-treating with their favorite Sesame Street pals. Other kid-friendly activities include hayrides, tours of Count von Count’s castle, and a special “Countdown to Halloween” musical show featuring Ernie, Bert, Big Bird and the rest of the gang.
Idlewild—-HallowBoo!
Idlewild amusement park in Ligonier, Pennsylvania is catering to families with young children who aren’t afraid to go wild in their HallowBoo! Zone. Each weekend during the month of October the park is hosting a variety of age appropriate Halloween activities, includes trick-or-treating through Storybook Forest and meeting Ricky Raccoon and other characters. Your family can also get into the Halloween spirit on specially themed rides and attractions, playing games and walking through mazes while munching on their favorite fall foods.
