I love sliders in the summer because they can feed a crowd and keep everyone happy. These small burgers can be enhanced with all sorts of toppings, from the traditional to the exotic. Consider creating a slider bar for your next party. You supply the sliders, the buns and the toppings, and let your guests pick and choose their combinations. Alternatively, have a few of the best selections already assembled and available.
Some ideas for your slider bar might include: fried onions, cheddar, american, provolone and goat cheese, condiments, pickles, sun dried tomatoes, homemade sauces and more.
Here are some of my favorites. You can cook them on the grill or pan fry them in olive oil. I’m even included a baked version. Serve the sliders on slider buns or dinner rolls. Alternatively, you can use the classic Hawaiian rolls, which have a sweet taste that works best with plain sliders that have simple ingredients.
Turkey Sliders
For each pound of ground turkey, mix in 1/3 cup of goat cheese, 1/4 cup chopped sun-dried tomatoes, 1 clove of minced garlic, 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper. Form into three-inch patties, place on buns and serve.
Classic and Simple Sliders
Season ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into three-inch patties and cook on a grill. Top with a quarter slice of American cheese plus a fried onion ring. Serve with your favorite condiment.
Buffalo Chicken Sliders
Take a rotisserie chicken and remove the meat from the bones, chopping or shredding it. Mix it with 2 stalks of celery, chopped, 1/2 cup of chopped carrots, 2 cups of crumbled blue cheese and 2/3 cup of wing sauce. Place the mixture in a 9 x 13 baking dish and bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. Spoon the chicken mixture on buns and serve.
