Finding ways to spend quality time with the kids after a long day of work and school can sometimes be exhausting. Having a preschooler in the house demands that as a parent after your work day is done you will need to find a way to get a burst of energy just to keep up with your preschooler once at home. It always amazes me how after a long day of play the kids are still so full of energy. They come home excited to spend time with you and look forward to the exciting things you will do that evening. Sure there are times when you can all sit down with an age appropriate movie and relax together and cuddle on the couch. You don’t want to do that each evening however so there is a need to find some fun activities that you can do together, that won’t leave you feeling completely wiped out by bedtime.
Something I enjoy doing with my four-year-old is visiting an educational website called Noggin. Noggin is a great website that is full of interactive games. It also works on your preschooler’s vocabulary, reading skills, art skills and really encourages creativity and interactive learning. My daughter asks to get onto the computer with me often to play these games. It is nice to spend time with her doing something that is educating her and that we can have fun with together.
Board games are also a great way to spend time together. In out house we have the staples: Memory, Chutes –n- Ladders, Monopoly, Sorry, Clue and of course Nick. Jr. Scene It! Find an age appropriate game for you and your kids to play together, it is a great way to pull them away from the television and get everyone involved in something fun together.
