Book Summary:
We’re Going on a Bear Hunt is an adorable story of children and their father going on a hunt to find a bear. The book is written in predictable text and rhyme which truly engages the child and makes sharing this book great fun. Soon your child will be shouting the repetitive phases with enthusiasm.
Activities:
A Bear Hunt
Supplies:
Binoculars
Teddy Bears
Obstacles for children to go through, over and under.
How to Play:
Hide one or several teddy bears in an unseen location. Basements or an outdoor area work well. Have your child follow a path which takes him through fun obstacles to go over, through or under. You can simply use a path leading through dining room tables, stairs, a sidewalk or whatever is in your natural path. If the natural path is uninteresting you will want to be prepared with obstacles you provide. Then simply go on your own bear hunt. I guarantee your child will want you to hide the bear several times to keep playing.

Bear Study
Gather several pictures of different types of bears and discuss the differences and similarities of each. This will help with critical thinking and observation skills. Bear Snores On is a great book to talk about hibernation.
Over, Under, Through
Teaching children positional words is a fun because it keeps them moving, laughing and engaged. Use a teddy bear and have your child put the bear above something, over something, going through something, etc.
