I often complain about furniture rearranging as it generally means decorating one room at the detriment of the style of other rooms. Still, I found myself furniture rearranging all last week.
This does not mean that I am eating my words though. All of my rooms were pretty well decorated. I just wanted a change. In this case, furniture rearranging can be a good thing.
It all started in my daughter’s bedroom. We started with painting my daughter’s room as discussed in this post. After painting the room, we ended up raiding my bedroom as I had several accessories that went very well with the paint scheme of her room. We stole a set of decorative screens and a few small items.
That left me with a hankering to re-do my own room. I began to eye a set of chairs in my formal living room.
I could not just take the chairs out of my formal living room without putting something in it’s place, but I had a solution. I had recently purchased a large sectional sofa for the great room. After living with it for about 6 months, we began to feel a bit crowded. it was taking up too much space. We decided to take away the corner pieces and use them in the living room as a love seat. This left a lovely loungy sectional in the great room. A grabbed the arm chairs from the dining room that are never used and put them in the great room with a game table to finish off the look. This meant I could have the chairs in my bedroom. I also took a side table from my husband’s over crowded office to use as a makeup table. I just need to purchase a wall mirror.
My bedroom is not complete yet, but I love having a nice seating area to sip tea and read in my over sized and usually empty looking bedroom. The next project may be to return my home office back to a guest room since I prefer to work in my bedroom anyway. Before I start moving furniture though, I need to first find the right wall unit to store all of my books and documents attractively.
By re-arranging my home in this way, I am satisfying my need for freshened decor plan without spending much money at all.
